Bryan Pointer (he/him)
Originally from Philadelphia, Bryan attended Delaware State University earning his degree in Sport Management. During his time at Delaware State, he was a cross country and track and field student-athlete. Upon graduation, Bryan earned his Master’s degree in Higher Education from West Chester University. During his time at West Chester, he worked in Athletics, Student Leadership, New Student Orientation, and served as the Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs. As a Ph.D. student in the Physical Cultural Studies research group, Bryan’s research interests examine issues in intercollegiate athletics that include anti-racist student-athlete advising practices, the exploitation of African American male student-athletes, and student-athlete activism. Bryan’s research interests include using auto-ethnography to critically draw upon his lived experiences growing up in Philadelphia, as a former student-athlete at Delaware State, and an advisor for student-athletes at the University of Maryland, College Park.
